About
The Baltic Sea basin countries have unique opportunities in developing the hydrogen economy. Abundant renewable energy sources, especially offshore wind farms, enable significant electricity production, which can be stored and distributed affordably using hydrogen. Hydrogen facilitates surplus energy storage and redistribution to emerging markets, supported by large-scale infrastructure projects like hydrogen transmission from Finland to Germany and storage in salt caverns. Green hydrogen derivatives, such as e-ammonia and e-methanol, offer additional trade potential. The Baltic Sea Region Hydrogen Council fosters international cooperation, knowledge sharing, and joint initiatives. The panel debate participants will address opportunities, challenges, and expectations for an integrated hydrogen market.
